I have a 2017 Ford Fusion titanium with the 2. 0l ecoboost engine that has 72,890 miles. I experienced rough idle for about a week then my check engine light came on. I had the engine light checked and showed the code p0302 which is a misfire in cylinder 2. When I proceeded to leave the place of business where I had the light checked white smoke came out of my exhaust upon start up and was still coming out by the time I drove home. I proceeded to do my research over the next couple of weeks following and found out it is a known issue and Ford will only cover if under power train warranty, even though it happens outside the warranty time frame just as much as with in the warranty window. I proceeded to have my car towed to the dealership and a diagnostic done and they said that everything I stated above is exactly the issue along with the pcm self-test showing p0217 engine over temperature condition was detected, and the engine long block assembly does have to be replaced. Nothing showed up on my dash to warn me of overheating or anything of the nature. Only the check engine light appeared.

On 3/6/2020 we took vehicle in to dealership. They performed oil change and reprogrammed pcm due to recall that was issued on my vehicle. 2 days later we started having issues with gas mileage sensor. Dealership to us to reset. Vehicle continue to have ussues warning lights are on, now we have parasitic drain. Car wont start. We have gotten jump start next day vehucle wont start. We were told battery is good. Issue is with module. I went through on last Ford vehicle and after 4 repairs, spending out of pocket thousands of dollars they never fixed Ford focus so I purchased Ford Fusion and now the exact same issue. It also may loud sound during jump start. Vehicle has been disabled since 3/27/2020.

I purchased my Ford while it was still under the warranty. I took it to a dealer because I was losing power while driving in a certain gear at a certain rpm after the engine was running for about 30 minutes. I was told it was a wiring issue which I had the dealer fix. By this time I was close to the warranty being up. It didnt fix the issue. The vehicle loses power intermittently or stutters. I get p0352 codes. I have been dealing with it because it is intermittent but recently the wiring harness melted on an ignition coil. I have replaced the ignition coils, the pig tail, the spark plugs, changed transmission fluid, rechecked all the cables, and once the dealer reprogrammed the pcm. It has to be the transmission but because it is intermittent the dealer cant find anything wrong. I actually lost power once at low speeds after the transmission slipped and dinged a poll causing a dent in my car. Thankfully I only lost power once on the high way and no one hit me. Since I am out of warranty I am forced to find the cause and fix it myself. I do not have 4 grand for a new transmission install. My research shows that Ford has three issues with my year. 1. Ignition coils over heating due to bad pcms or programming 2. Transmission bubbles or tears forming in the rings 3. Cable controls on the transmissions. I am out of options and dont know what to do so I figure I would warn off others. Dont by a Ford with the 6f35 transmission unless it is a later year. I hear the 2019 has it fixed and I wish I could have one of those but the best I can do is warn others. I am stuck. 2 years of my life wasted.

While I was driving on a dry, paved road, the check engine light activated while passing and the vehicle's rpms fluctuated between 500 and 2000 with barely any engine power. Vehicle was pulled over, turned off, turned back on again, and appeared to resume normal operation. Vehicle was towed to a mechanic and through testing they identified the powertrain control module had melted several engine coils and spark plugs. Before replacing the module, all new spark plugs and engine coils were added and the car was started up. It exhibited the same behavior before the coils and plugs were replaced, and for the brief time it was actually on, it melted another new coil. TSB for the 07 Fusion was confirmed and the pcm was replaced along with all new coils. Pcm was taken to the Ford dealer for reprogramming. Replacement and reprogramming of pcm and all 6 coils and spark plugs fixed the issue. Vehicle has 84k miles on it and should not have this safety issue.

2006 Ford Fusion: when driving after the car gets warm up it is starts slipping and shifting someone harshly like it just got kicked. I was on the freeway and couldn't speed up almost got rear ended. I see others have the same issue after doing a search I found different answer as what could be wrong. Found out what the issue is with the aisin transmissions slipping which were used in the 2006 Fusion. It is due to valve bore wear in the main control. If the trans fluid isnt burnt (meaning there is internal trans clutch damage) then you are looking at $800-$1000 to replace the main control. If the clutches are burnt the whole trans will have to be replaced cost??? something like $4000-$5000. The problem is that when Ford bought the aisin trans, Ford did not buy the service rights. So there are no service parts available or training avail on how to service this trans. The issue with the main control has been so common that aisin has agreed to supply Ford with service main controls. There has been a technical service bulletin out there. This car just fell apart at 130000 miles. The purge valve failed 3 times. The abs speed sensor pigtail failed. The entire pcm unit board shorted un repairable. The map sensor failed. Ford has charged me 3 times for diagnosis as failures were less then 4 days apart so towed back each time. A pcm complete failure on a car not even 4 years old with only 130000 miles is an issue as they want around $1000 for replacement when it should not be failing. Add in all the previous recalls this car has been a lemon from the start. I am a long time Ford buyer but this has soured me. The abs pig tail triggered all safety lights drops power steering and poor braking.

My ignition coils have melted and fried the pcm. Long story short it was a very dangerous situation where I was in the middle of a highway going 50mph when my car just wouldn't accelerate. It started shaking violently and I thought I was going to lose control. Luckily, I was able to safely make it to the side of the road and have it towed to the local dealership. Unfortunately, Ford has yet to take responsibility and recall these defective parts. There are thousands of complaints filed online. This issue costs thousands to fix and should be taken seriously by Ford. Even the dealership commented that they thought the ignition coil may have melted before they even looked at it because they know this is a known issue with Ford Fusions. I'm really disappointed in Ford.

Tl the contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. While driving between 20-38 mph, the vehicle failed to shift gears, jerked severely, and the check engine and transmission warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to anderson Ford Lincoln (3601 stockton hill rd, kingman, az 86409, (928) 757-3131) where it was diagnosed that the 4th and 5th gears were incorrect. While the vehicle was at the dealer for the gear repairs, it was also diagnosed that the valve body and solenoids needed replacement, and the pcm and tcm needed reprogramming. All the repairs were completed, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was then taken to an independent transmission facility where it was diagnosed with the same failure and parts as the dealer. The contact stated that the vehicle was once again repaired, but the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to another independent transmission facility where it was diagnosed that the entire transmission needed replacement and the failure was a known issue with Ford. The contact stated that the transmission was not replaced because he already spent money to have the transmission repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. The VIN was unknown.

The vehicle starts running rough, steering becomes loose, the wrench light comes on with the message 'check owners manual', then the engine stalls. This happens when the car is in motion. It has happened twice at low speed ~35 mph and once at high speed ~70 mph. We have had it in the Ford dealer twice. The first time they said there was no code so they couldn't do anything. The second time they said they reprogrammed the pcm with a recall 16b32. I will drop it off this morning for the 3rd time.

My 2010 Ford Fusion started expierencing transmission problems while at a traffic light last week. The car suddenly went into neutral while the gear shift was in the drive position. After pushing the gas pedal to the floor for several seconds the car slamed into gear. I took it immediately for repair. There have been no issues with this transmission proir to this event. The car has exactly 111,856 miles on it to date. The Ford dealership did an update on the powertrain control module and transmission control module. This did not fix the problem. Upon further inspection, the car was found to need a complete transmission replacement. I did some research and found hundreds of complaints online about Ford Fusions having transmission issues. I contacted Ford so that they could document yet another complaint about one of their Fusions having transmission failure, and asked that there be a recall issued. They said they had no intention of issuing a recall. So I am asking the NHTSA to put some pressure on them to seriously consider issuing a recall before someone gets injured due to a tranmssion failure on the road.

Transmission shifting erratically, completed Ford reflash of tcm (TSB# 12-6-12) and made the transmission flare and gear pause go away. However now the vehicle after driving it a few hundred miles shifts very hard. This also causes the vehicle to accelerate forward in an inconstant manner (example - pushing on the gas pedal the same amount 2 different times from a stop resulted in a jack rabbit start and the other accelerated more smoothly without the sudden jolt. ) the vehicle will do this repeatedly but only in light throttle applications, 1/2 throttle and above the transmission shifts perfect. The 6f35 transmission should be recalled for issues as the 2010-2016 model Fusion / escape vehicles have these issues when searching for common issues or remedies for the issues I've experienced.

Yellow wrench light keep coming on while driving only down the highway at 65 to 70 mph, it also intermittent therefore the dealer cannot ever find problem codes. The codes erase when you turn off the car. I lose half of engine power and no other controls work such as cruise control and manual shifting paddle shifting. I was also told that it was my : 'pcm' that is giving me the trouble. Also the electric fan is running at full speed blowing out cold air, plus the smell of burning plastic. Also when the car is started and running for about 7 to 10 minutes, I turn on the heater at 73 degrees and it is warm. Then after turning on the heater and now leaving for work, I accelerate to get onto the freeway and soon noticed that the heater is now blowing cold air and I then turn the heater up higher to 77 then the same warmth come out then that goes away til I turn the heater way up to 83 degrees. This has never happened before, I had the coolant and oil replaced and it is still doing the same thing. I get two warnings showing the yellow wrench, 'power reduced to cool down engine' and 'engine overheat' the sunnyvale Ford dealer charged me $200. 00 dollars to see what was wrong with my car and said they have found nothing. But this problem only happens on the freeway driving at 65 to 75 mph. Our freeways speed limits are high on interstates 5. I do see older Ford tempo's going 80 mph and passing me while I cannot go faster to get out of the way of others. Quite insulting to me while I spend out of pocket and Ford says nothing and I get back a broken car that works sometimes. The extended warranties I pay for does not cover anything so I'm paying for a car that is soon to fail and leave me stranded at the same time I have to pay for it. Ford continue to say my car is running well and returning it back to me with problems unfixed.

I have a 2010 Ford Fusion sel awd v6 which I purchased about 2 years ago. I have started noticing shifting problems with my car. It first started about 3 weeks ago now. The car acted like it couldn't figure out what gear to go in, while making a left turn through traffic it hesitated a lot & then figured out what gear to get into, barely avoiding an accident. I was then coming back from the airport with my sister & it clammed down in gears as we started to stop & then lunged forward 2 times almost hitting the car in front of me. I have taken it into the shop & they said they needed to reflash the pcm, this was done the day before yesterday. I got it back yesterday & it started doing the exact same things. I have seen that a recall notice was sent out to some people years ago with a time limit on getting this fixed. Recall notice 10b15. It said it ended in April of 2011. Can thr be a time limit on this sort of thing? some people don't have $1,000's of dollars to fix cars. What can someone do to correct this issue.

I was driving down the highway at approximately 65mph and came up behind a truck doing about 50mph. I changed lanes and went to pass the truck. As I passed the truck my car accelerated slowly and seemed to not switch gears at the right time, causing a hard shift and a 'chug' feel. I passed the truck and slowed down to 60mph and as the car shifted again, it caused another hard shift and 'chug' feel. This seems to be a common issue with Ford Fusions. Mine didn't start happening until after the pcm update recall that was done on 2/26/15. I took it into Ford after it happened the first time and they told me that since there is no wrench on the dash and no check engine light with a code, they can't find anything wrong and cannot replicate the problem I described to them. This is ridiculous that many cars have an issue but it looks like since there is no one that has been significantly injured or killed in an accident due to it, that it isn't being fixed. Please recall this and fix it before someone loses their life from this.

What feels like is brakes sticking. 1st noticed when backing out of driveway one morning. I put car in reverse it wouldn't move without acceleration. On good days it moves on it's own. When it's acting up and I let off acceleration, car stops itself abruptly without applying brake. Early this week me and my son were stopped at drive thru window (thank god not at a stop light). When I went to accelerate to leave, my car wouldn't move. Embarrassed I accelerated harder and finally got it moving but it sounded like brakes were sticking, I couldn't go over 15 mph, car wouldn't shift was at 3 rpm, and any time I let off gas pedal the car abruptly stopped dead in tracks. Terrified I drove car a few blocks to my dad and as I was pulling into driveway they freed up. When this happens my brakes get real stiff (hard to press) he could feel the heat rolling off front tires and they smelled really hot. Took to 3 different dealerships and none can find a cause because the brakes aren't acting up at that point in time. They need to see it in action before they can get an idea. So here I am 2 months now still driving like this. This happens at least once a week. Comes and goes. Today I had pcm updated and powertrain replaced and after that when the mechanic got in car to move it, it didn't want to move. He described it as it was like having no power. They hooked it up and it showed power train. So they replaced it. He don't think it was my brakes doing this but yet the other dealership said you can clearly see where my front brakes have been really hot. I'm hoping somehow the update fixed it. Time will tell.

Had to replace an ignition coil for a misfire obd code. After replacing coil problem still existed, so I researched online and found a great number of other Fusion owners who have had this same problem. Now I am supposed to replace all the ignition coils and the pcm. With the number of affected vehicles being staggering I feel that there needs to be a recall for this issue.

Was driving on a busy city street when the car suddenly lost power. No response when I gave it gas. Turned on hazard lights, turned off engine. Restarted engine, put in drive, tried to move - it shook violently and noisily. With no shoulder to street, I was stranded in traffic lane until towtruck arrived. Had to go to Ford dealership, where they performed 'field service action 13b17. ' service order said 'replace throttle body and reflash pcm. ' since they did not charge for the repair, I asked if there is a recall on this issue. The technician said there was a recall for recalibration of the pcm, but with a field service action they only replace the throttle body if it fails. Internet research, including this site, revealed that Ford was aware of a throttle body problem but responded only by extending the warranty on it. The company claimed that in the event of a problem, the car would go into 'limp home mode. ' whatever that means, my experience was that the car suddenly stopped in traffic. Had I been on an interstate, people might have been killed. And I see, from the hundreds of complaints about the same problem, that it has indeed happened on major highways and at high speeds. It is unconscionable for Ford to ignore a known safety problem such as this until after an incident. Upon further inquiry, the service writer at the dealership claimed that there is now a recall for the throttle body problem, that the notices were 'just sent out' and I just happened to arrive before getting one. As you know, as of today, September 9, 2014, there is no such recall shown on the Ford site (could not find any recall info) or the NHTSA site. A vehicle's stopping dead without warning is a serious safety hazard. Why are the affected vehicles not being recalled?.

Took car in to tropical Ford in orlando for driveability recall. They claimed to reprogram the pcm. Now on sept. 6 the car is losing power and stalling out. Also the wrench icon is showing on the dash which in the manual states the issue is the throttle control/transmission. I will have the car towed back to the dealer sept. 8 to have repaired. I suspect is etb connectivity problem, a lot of similar complaints/recall repairs online.

The first time it happened, I had just reversed out of driveway, put vehicle into drive and nothing happened when I press the gas pedal. . . . With 10 year old daughter in car. Fairly busy street, traffic coming both ways, managed to limp to side of road with flashers on. Quick scan of dash showed a wrench shaped warning light. Checked owners manual, shut car off, back on, seemed to correct itself. 2 or 3 days later, wife was driving car, busy area near local mall when same thing happened, told her to turn vehicle off, wait a minute a restart, again problem seemed to resolve itself. After that, remembered I had gotten a letter from Ford, found it and to my 'surprise' it was a customer service program 13b17, throttlebody issues. Had 'recommended' service, reprogramming of pcm, that was ju;y 11, 2014 drove fine for a couple of weeks, but has happened again with an alarming frequency. Today alone, had to stop, restart vehicle 3 times during what should have been a 10 minute ride, which to about 30 minutes. Ford needs to own this problem before someone is killed!.

I purchased a 2008 Ford Fusion awd/6 speed in 2009 with only 107 miles. I kept record of all required maintenance on the car. Just recently planning to take a vacation from colorado to see my son at nellis air force base, so last month I got all maintenance don't it again. Oil change, transmission & power steering flush, etc. I parked the car with no problem. The next day, I started the car and it has no power, I drove it down the drive way and have I to turn around. The engine was knocking so bad the I thought I would fall off on the ground. I got it towed to the mechanic and the said the coil is bad, they replace two coils that cost $600. 00. Right when the mechanic is going to call us to pick up the car, they said it was running worse. Now they said those coils melted, and now the pcm need replacement. I called Ford corporate and they said there is no recall for pmc on 2008 Ford Fusion but yet several mechanic said this is not normal. I expect to come out of pocket for at lease $2000. 00.

When I was driving 55 mph, the car did a little jerk like it had missed. No lights came on and I drove to the nearest side road off the highway and stopped. I tried to go further but only made it about 100 yards because I lost all power including steering. My car was half in the road so I was thankful this was not a high traffic road. The engine light came on and there was a smell. It wasn't the smell of oil but was a fluid smell. The car would not turn over and had to be towed to the dealership. It came up as a misfire 3 and they told me that they had to replace the coil. This did not fix the problem and they said the 3 coil when it blew it took out the other coils as well as the 6 spark plugs and the pcm. This was a $2250 repair. I only have 68,000 on the car. After reading other TSB, some stated that if under 80,000 miles/8 years that it was covered under the manufacture warranty. I called Ford and was told I missed the 8 year mark by exactly 30 days. There was nothing that I could do but hold on to my receipts in case there would ever be a recall. This is the only major issue I have had. I have never had any other engine issues with the car. I've only had 2 minor issues before this and they were the lumbar going out in the driver's seat ($300 repair that I did not replace) and 2 door handles breaking from the inside that were $160 to replace each. I did replace bc of the safety issue of not being able to get out of the car. After reading the TSB, I see that the pcm and coils are a reoccurring issue and I am thankful I was on a side road when it occurred. . . I am very worried that it may occur again and hope this issues will be or has been looked into for the safety of others.

I was driving at about 30mph suddenly I could not accelerate and the car died in the middle if the road luckily I was able to pull off safely without killing anyone! took the car to a local mechanic as well as a Ford dealer both agreed needs new pcm and 6 ignition coils = $2000! is it going to take an actual death for this to be recalled?.

Travelled from CT to marathon, FL, arriving after noon. Within sight of the hotel destination the engine began to break down and run rough. I also smelled smoke. I managed to get to the hotel parking lot before the engine quit altogether. A local shop diagnosed the problem as two cylinder misfires and failed igniton coils. 57 mi from the dealer in key west and over 100 mi from miami, I elected to have a local ase certified shop replace the coils. Reflashing the pcm showed a new set of codes and that the pcm was failed and needed to be replaced. According to machado Ford in miami, there were no pcms in Ford's inventory in all of the us. Searched for remanufactured pcms was fruitless as well. Finally contacted armstrong Ford in homestead and they said they could fix the car. $996. 56 to the shop in big pine key. Transported the car to homestead on fri 2/21. Monday the dealer had located a pcm and replacement was completed under warranty Tuesday afternoon. I picked up the car on Wednesday and left for jacksonville in the afternoon. 120 mi north in jupitor, the engine failed again. We sat on the side of the FL turnpike's 70 mph traffic until we could have the car transported to mullinax Ford in west palm, arriving after the service dept had closed. The next day I learned that all three catylic converters were plugged and needed replacement. Two converters were available and were replaced on 2/28. The third converter was back ordered with an expected availablility of 3/31. Since the remaining unit had discharged its contents into the tailpipe and was discarded, I was able to drive back to CT. Tasca Ford in berlin CT is still waiting for the replacement converter after numerous extensions of delivery dates from Ford. The Ford customer serv rep refuseds to return my calls. My total out of pocket expenses exceed $4000 to date.

This failure has occurred three times over a period of four months. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who diagnosed that the vehicle had an internal short. The throttle body assemble needed to be replaced and the pcm reset to repair the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 124,000. Rg.

While driving on the highway the engine started to run rough and within a minute the engine quit and couldn't be restarted. Luckily I was able to coast to the side of the highway. The engine had the same fault as identified in NHTSA TSB-13-4-17. The pcm unit failed, causing damage to multiple on-plug ignition coils. I believe that the Ford TSB # for this problem is 06-18-15. This is a 6-cylinder engine. I believe this is a safety issue because of the sudden and complete onset of loss of power.

My vehicle has had no previous mechanical defects or issues. On the above listed date, my vehicle had difficulty starting after sitting (off) for approximately 12 hours. I began to drive and the vehicle died while I was driving. Later diagnostics revealed that the pcm and ignition coils were damaged. This is a known issue for Ford, as they have issued a TSB on the issue. Ford has neglected to issue a recall or safety advisory to their affected customers, and is now failing to rectify the issue. This is a major safety defect, as the vehicle could become inoperable while operating at moderate to high speeds, which could cause a loss of control. Ford is aware of the issue and is failing to take responsibility and protect its consumers.

At 65 mph the car all of the sudden shuttered and went into limp mode. Pulled over to the side, wrench light was on and the car sat an idled/shuttered. Turned it off. Waited about 30 seconds and turned it back on, everything appeared fine, and no lights on the dashborad. Did an internet search and discovered many 2010 Fusion owners having same issue. . . Throttle body. Took the car to dealer and confirmed faulty throttle body. Wanted $596 to replace throttle body and reprogram pcm. Way too much for a part that is about $150 and 10 minutes work. Dangerous situation, as highway speed and sudden loss of power do not mix.

The contact owns a 2006 Ford Fusion. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, there was a sudden loss of power as the check charging system warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the pcm module, coils, spark plugs, and the intake manifold gasket needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 84,000.
